Why does my soy candle or wax melt have white patches?
White patches, also known as frosting, are completely normal in natural soy wax. Because soy is a plant-based wax, it naturally forms tiny crystals over time, especially when exposed to temperature changes during curing, delivery, or even in your home. Frosting does not affect the scent, burn quality, or performance. It simply shows that your candle or melt is made from pure, unblended soy wax with no synthetic additives.
How do I clean my wax melt burner before adding a new scent?
There are two easy ways to clean your burner.
Set and Lift Method (for tealight burners):
- Light a tealight for 1–2 minutes.
- Once the wax softens around the edges, blow out the tealight.
- Slide the wax out in one piece.
- Wipe the dish clean with a cotton pad.
Cotton Absorb Method (for electric or tealight burners):
- Warm the burner until the wax is fully melted.
- Place cotton pads or cotton balls into the dish.
- Let them absorb the wax.
- Wipe clean and add your next fragrance.
Avoid scraping the dish with metal tools as this can cause damage.
How long should I burn my candle each time?
For the best performance, burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time. This allows the wax to melt evenly to the edges, prevents tunnelling, and helps your candle last longer.
Why is my candle tunnelling?
Tunnelling happens when a candle is not burned long enough for the melt pool to reach the edges. It is fixable. Allow the candle to burn for a longer session next time, or use a candle topper or foil collar to encourage an even melt.
Why can’t I smell my wax melt anymore?
Wax melts do not evaporate. Only the fragrance does. Once the scent has fully dispersed, the wax will remain in the dish. Remove it and replace it with a fresh melt to enjoy a new aroma.
Are your candles and wax melts safe for pets?
Our fragrances are made using high-quality, IFRA-compliant oils. Many pet owners use our products safely, but every animal is different. We recommend using candles and melts in well-ventilated spaces, keeping products out of reach, and checking with your vet if your pet has known sensitivities.
Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. All Elyva & Philia candles and melts are made with vegan-friendly ingredients and are never tested on animals.
What type of wax do you use?
We always use natural soy wax or coconut and rapeseed wax for a clean, slow, even burn. These waxes offer a smooth scent throw without the need for paraffin or synthetic additives.
Do you use essential oils or fragrance oils?
We use both high-quality fragrance oils and essential oils. All of our scents are carefully sourced to ensure we offer scents that are blended for safety, consistency, and performance.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Yes. Our products can be wrapped in our signature luxury style, perfect for gifting.
Can I reuse or recycle my candle jar?
Yes. Once your candle is finished, warm the jar slightly, remove any remaining wax, and wash with warm soapy water. The jar can be reused for storage or décor, or recycled.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged?
If anything arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue and we will arrange a replacement or solution.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently we only offer delivery in the UK, we apologise for any inconvenience.
Why isn’t my favourite scent always available?
All of our candles and wax melts are hand-poured in small batches and require a two-week cure time to ensure the best possible fragrance and burn quality. Because of this, there may occasionally be a short delay in restocking if a particular scent sells out quickly.
We always work as efficiently as possible to keep everything available, and any delays are only ever to maintain the high quality you expect from us.
